Participants’ profile

The 753 participants in the IEC Young Professionals (YP) Programme came mainly from manufacturer (25%), testing and certification (20%) and industry, professional or trade association (18%) business sectors.

Geographical representation 

YPs come from 58 National Committees (NCs). All geographical regions are represented with Europe and Asia representing 75% of participants. The number of NCs represented increased by 70%; from 27 NCs in 2010 to 46 in 2021.

Age

The average age of the IEC YPs when they attend the Workshop is 30 years old.

Gender representation

Out of 753 YPs, 567 were male and 186 were female, representing 75% and 25% respectively. The latter is based on the title field filled at the time of registration to the Expert Management System (EMS). YPs may always register under a different gender by contacting the YP Programme Secretariat.

The percentage of female participants increased from 11% in 2010 to 31% in 2021.

YP Participation in IEC

There are 218 active YPs involved at the international level related to standardization which corresponds to a 28,9% retention rate of YPs to IEC work.
