The Young Professionals Programme brings together the future leaders of international standardization and conformity assessment

Since its inception in 2010, the IEC Young Professionals Programme has welcomed over 750 participants from all over the world


participants Participants are hand-picked by IEC National Committees to represent their country in the Young Professionals Programme. Their participation is kicked-off with the annual Young Professionals workshop that the IEC organizes alongside the General Meeting.


workshop The IEC YP workshop offers participants the opportunity to see the IEC in action and meet technical experts from all over the world in order to better understand why participation at the global level is an essential strategic tool.


certificate After the completion of the workshop, the Young Professionals are encouraged to continue their involvement in standardization and conformity assessment work at the international and/or national levels.


rocket As YPs, they are regularly invited to participate in IEC and dedicated YP activities as well as provide input on how the IEC can attract the next generation of experts and leaders.

Bringing young professionals in the IEC community


For participants and their organization, the IEC YP Programme offers an important networking platform and a unique opportunity to help shape international standardization and conformity assessment work. The IEC benefits from the increased participation of young experts who bring new ideas to its activities.


Each year, the IEC YP Programme seeks new participants - engineers, managers, and technicians - involved in the fields of electricity and electronics to join the YP Programme.

Eligibility requirements

  • Aged between the early 20s to mid-30s
  • Some experience of standard development or the use of standards in the context of conformity assessment
  • Working for a business, industry, association or government body that is using, benefiting from or contributing to the work of the IEC
