The IEC is a not-for-profit, quasi-governmental organization, founded in 1906, which develops International Standards in electrotechnology and operates four CA (Conformity Assessment) Systems. It brings together 173 countries of which 89 are Members (National Committees) and 84 Affiliates who participate free of charge in the IEC Affiliate Country Programme.
