IEC Africa Regional Centre (IEC-AFRC) is the focal point for the IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) in Africa. It supports all African IEC Members as well as Affiliates via the IEC Affiliate Country Programme.
The mission of the IEC Africa Regional Centre (IEC-AFRC), located in Nairobi, Kenya is to:
- promote awareness of IEC in the African region
- increase the adoption and use of IEC International Standards and the IEC Conformity Assessment Systems by governments and local industries
- support participation (independent of commitment), and enhance active contributions to IEC work.
All the above will be achieved through active communication with industry and governments in the region.
IEC-AFRC works closely with the African Electrotechnical Standardization Commission (AFSEC), the African Union and all the other regional bodies that are important for African development.
