Functional Safety

Participants in Seoul...

The first series of IEC Standards+ training courses were held in the Asia-Pacific region in April/May 2009. They proved to be extremely successful, gathering more than 50 participants in all. The venues were in South Korea and Singapore.

South Korea

The first IEC Standards+ training course took place in Seoul on 28-29 April 2009, hosted by KATS (the Korean Agency for Technology and Standards).

This first session brought together 43 participants. Many of them were from testing laboratories; others were engineers from industrial conglomerates. Under their trainer Ron Bell, one of the world's leading experts in the field of Functional Safety, they worked together on a programme that covered risk management, risk assessment and risk reduction.

...and in Singapore.

The second course was held in Singapore on 4-5 May 2009, jointly organized by SPRING and the Singapore National Committee of the IEC. It attracted 16 participants.

As in the previous session, attendees were able to gain substantial insight on identifying and defining the performance requirements of control systems with an aim to ensure sufficiently low dangerous failure rates and achieve their target of tolerable risk.
