International Standards and Conformity Assessment for all electrical, electronic and related technologies

Comité consultatif de la compatibilité électromagnétique

Domaine d'application

ACEC (Advisory Committee on Electromagnetic Compatibility), which reports to the SMB (Standardization Management Board) , considers all aspects of the ability of an equipment or system to function satisfactorily in its electromagnetic environment without introducing intolerable electromagnetic disturbances to anything in that environment.

The object of ACEC is to advise the SMB and to guide and coordinate IEC work relating to electromagnetic compatibility matters in order to ensure consistency and avoid duplication and conflict in IEC standards.

ACEC is responsible for the mandatory IEC Guide 107 which provides guidelines on drafting electromagnetic publications and through which it coordinates the EMC work of IEC's technical committees. It maintains a list of all the main product families covered by IEC EMC Standards and organizes workshops to help improve communications between the IEC and industry on EMC related issues. It also coordinates the IEC's work related to EMC with other organizations' committees.

ACEC Membership

Members, nominated by NCs (National Committees), are experts knowledgeable in EMC matters. Eight members of ACEC are the representatives of the following TCs (Technical Committees):

* TC 77: Electromagnetic compatibility; (4 members)

* CISPR: International special committee on radio interference (4 members)

Additional members of ACEC are the representatives of IEC TCs or SCs (Subcommittees), nominated by the TC/SC Officers and supported by the TC/SC P-members, whose activities include EMC matters as an important part of their work.
