Risk Analysis of Open Systems
Remark:
Technologies of so called internet of things (IoT), smart industries such as Industry 4.0 and Connected Industries, Clouding Systems, etc., are and are going to be widely applied to such fields as customer energy management systems and the power management system, the control systems of self-driving cars, and a lot of other industrial systems.
Those systems are often characterized as open systems and/or system of systems.
– Open system is defined as a system whose boundaries, functions and structure change over time and is recognized and described differently from various points of view (IEC 62853).
– System of systems is defined as a set of systems that interact to provide a unique capability that none of the constituent systems can accomplish on its own (ISO/IEC/IEEE DIS 21841).
New risks involving the known (predicted) and unknown (not predicted), such as of borderless influences and of cyber-security will be newly created in open systems.
This document describes how to identify and analyze risks created in those systems systematically for the effective implementation of risk management.
