WG 15

Smart Metering Functions and Processes

To establish standards for functions and processes in smart metering systems (AMI) conforming to the IEC 62056-1-0 smart metering framework and IEC 61968 series data models/message profiles (CIM). These include an accounting function catering for pre and post payment methods and a delivery function that controls the flow of energy.

To further develop prepayment meter and payment system requirements in the IEC 62055 STS series of standards, compliant with AMI functions and processes, and STS companion standards. The STS Association is the appointed registration authority for the IEC 62055 STS series of standards, to allocate and control numeric identifiers for manufacturers and users of STS payment meters and online/offline vending systems.
