Digitalization

Digitalization and the usage of PLM (Product Lifecycle Management), CAD systems and classification systems require product data in a digital form. In addition to drawings, CAD models and performance specifications, technical standards are product data too. Today the structure of technical standards cannot be used by digital systems. Starting with electrical connectors, SC 48B/WG 7 will first have the target to define a structure with which to describe the functionality and the specifications of a connector in a format which can used by digital systems. This structure should be suitable for technical standards to become readable by computer systems.

WG7 will then make the editorial work to bring the standards of SC 48B in this new digital structure.
