Hydroelectric Power Plant Automation and Turbine Governing Systems
a) Standardization of guidelines for the overall application, design concepts and implementation for digital electronic and computer-based automation and control systems for hydroelectric power plants. This includes turbine and unit control, excitation, protection, communication, human machine interface, control room technology and security. This also includes filling the gaps with evolving new electronic and IT-technologies in hydroelectric power plant automation, as far as no other IEC working group specialized on that technology exists. The definition and detailed specification of excitation systems, protection systems, communication protocols and human machine interface ergonomy is not within the scope of WG14.
b) Detailed technical definition and standardization of Turbine Control Systems, including system performance criteria with respect to total grid operation
