Terms and definitions

To establish terms used in design, manufacture, assembly,
testing and reliability of printed boards, printed board
assemblies, and related materials and components including
clear and concise definitions for those terms that represent
agreed international preferred terminology (Terms in common
usage are referenced to preferred terms).

Areas of work include:

a. Updating IEC 194 in cooperation with relevant technical
committees specifically TC 1, to avoid any conflict with the
IEV.

b. Maintain IEC 194 in cooperation with relevant technical
committees specifically TC1, to avoid any conflict with the
IEV.

c. Develop a classification code system that organizes terms by
subject family and establishes a unique number for each term.
The intent of the system is to facilitate electronic data base
organization for terminology comparison in different languages.
