The second IEC – CIGRE International Symposium on International Standards for UHV Transmission will be held on 29-30 January 2009 in New Delhi. It is organized by CIGRE, International Council on Large Electric Systems, and the IEC, International Electrotechnical Commission, with the support of the Indian National Committee of CIGRE and the Indian National Committee of the IEC.

The objective of the Symposium is to collect and share information on the current state of the art in UHV transmission technologies and the progress of UHV transmission standardization. It is planned to make recommendations for what UHV standards the market requires and develop strategies for international standardization of UHV technologies, in response to rapid needs from the large developing market for UHV.

The Symposium is being held in conjunction with GRIDTECH 2009, the International Exhibition on New Technologies in Transmission & Distribution, Load Despatch & Communication, organized by Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. The location is Pragati Maidan, a large exhibition and conference complex in the centre of New Delhi.
