The role of the Expert

Definition

Experts in relevant technical fields for each Technical Committee or Sub Committee are individuals appointed by their National Committees, via Expert Management System, and designated to one or more working group, maintenance team or project team. They will have access (granted by their National Committees) to working documents located on the IEC website.

Responsibilities

Experts will take part in the drafting of working documents in accordance with the ISO/IEC Directives and IEC Supplement. Work on the drafts is prepared in Working Groups (WG), Project Teams (PT) or Maintenance Teams (MT) that deal with the specific task or tasks allocated to each group.

The experts act in a personal capacity and not as the official representative of the organization by which they were appointed. However, it is recommended that they keep close contact with their organization (National Committee or other International Organization in liaison) in order to inform them about the progress of the work. Experts are capable of advising on technical issues in the field of the committee in which they have been appointed.

Useful applications

Experts may use all the different IEC applications with a unique login provided by their National Committee.
