Drafting IEC publications

The IEC editing team

All IEC editors are bilingual and work in both language versions (English and French). However, their task is not to translate – the French translation is the responsibility of the French National Committee (UTE).

As far as possible, each editor is responsible for a specific set of TC/SCs. They edit the texts, focussing on aspects such as structure, grammar and applying the ISO/IEC Directives, rather than on the technical content.

The editors' task is to check:

  • compliance with ISO/IEC Directives, Part 2;
  • the equivalence of the two language versions (French and English);
  • consistency within the document, and if possible, within the series;
  • language: grammar, spelling and punctuation

For further advice or questions on the writing and editing of documents, please contact the IEC editing team.
