Drafting IEC publications

Title

(The full requirements are described in the ISO/IEC Directives Part 2:2011, 6.1.1 and 5.2.1.2.)

The title of the document shall be as concise as possible, indicating without ambiguity the subject matter of the document in such a way as to distinguish it from that of other documents, without going into unnecessary detail. Any necessary additional particulars shall be given in the scope.

It shall be composed of separate elements, each as short as possible, proceeding from the general to the particular.

When drafting a document belonging to a series, make sure that the scope of the general title is sufficiently wide so as not to unintentionally limit the scope of the individual parts. The same logic applies to the title for the subseries.
