Introduction
(The full requirements are described in the ISO/IEC Directives Part 2:2011, 6.1.4)
The introduction is a conditional element used, if appropriate, to give specific information or commentary about the technical content of the document, and about the reasons or background prompting its preparation.
It is located between the Foreword and the Scope.
The introduction shall not contain requirements.
Where patent rights have been identified in a document, the introduction shall include an appropriate notice (see ISO/IEC Directives Part 2:2011, Annex F).
