Drafting IEC publications

Using the IEC styles toolbar
The IEC standard template contains IEC-specific toolbars with the most commonly used styles and autotexts.
The styles toolbar facilitates applying styles to text, based on macros. If you cannot or do not want to work with macros, you can still use Word's built-in options for applying styles (see pages 2-6 in the PDF document at the bottom of this page).
Applying styles from the toolbar
To access the IEC styles toolbar, make sure the IEC standard template is attached to the document, then:
- Word 2010/2007: select the tab Add-Ins; the IEC styles toolbar will be displayed in the first line.
- Word 2003/before: if the IEC toolbars do not appear on your screen automatically, go to View > Toolbars and select IEC autotexts EN and IEC styles.
The toolbar contains a selection of the most frequently used styles from the IEC standard template. For the complete list of styles, use Word's built-in options for applying styles (see pages 2-6 in the PDF document at the bottom of this page).
By clicking on a style, you apply it to the selected text. To find out to which text elements the various styles from the IEC template are applied, consult the list of IEC styles.
