What the IEC does
IEC CA Systems
The four IEC Conformity Assessment Systems
The IEC runs four CA (Conformity Assessment) Systems each of which covers a different area of electrotechnology.
IECEE (IEC System of Conformity Assessment Schemes for Electrotechnical Equipment and Components) covers the safety and performance of electrical equipment used in the home, office or health care facilities.
IECEx (IEC System for Certification to Standards Relating to Equipment for Use in Explosive Atmospheres) is focused on hazardous areas where flammable gases, liquids, and combustible dusts may be present.
IECQ (IEC Quality Assessment System for Electronic Components) covers electronic components and related materials and processes
IECRE (IEC System for Certification to Standards Relating to Equipment for Use in Renewable Energy Applications) covers equipment and services for use in Renewable Energy Sectors.
One Standard - one test - one certification
The IEC is the only organization in the world that provides a true international standardized form of certification. IEC Conformity Assessment Systems are the largest and best known multilateral agreements based on one-time testing of products globally and the most direct way to most markets.
