Strong interest in full factory certification confirmed – over 30 signatories to date
Strong participation is paramount in providing internationally active companies with a competitive edge when accessing global markets
Geneva, Switzerland, 2010-12-15 – The recently launched IECEE CB-FCS (Full Certification Scheme) promises to provide manufacturers with a significantly faster and more economic option for global product-roll-outs, while allowing them to respect many differing national regulations world-wide. The scheme that was launched earlier this year has encountered broad market success, with many of the IECEE NCBs (National Certification Bodies) recognizing its importance for international certification. To date, 31 IECEE NCBs have signed the CB-FCS Multilateral Agreement.
The fact that so many organizations from a large number of different countries have signed the multilateral agreement is important because it represents the basic condition for the global success of the programme.
IECEE CB-FCS allows a manufacturer to provide the proof that each product from a certified factory offers the same constant quality and safety level. By signing the agreement, all signatories commit to mutually accept the Conformity Assessment Certificates and associated Conformity Assessment Reports, including factory inspection reports, as the basis for national approval or certification. This helps to eliminate duplicate testing, sampling and factory inspections by individual countries. The end result is a significant cost reduction for manufacturers and much faster market access for their products.
CB-FCS is able to provide one test, one factory inspection, one certificate that is valid in an increasing number of markets worldwide. With this system the manufacturer is able to complete all certification and factory inspection steps in the country the factory operates in, and eliminate many obstacles to international trade.
