International Standards and Conformity Assessment for all electrical, electronic and related technologies

Energy efficiency

Optimizing the use of electricity for our future

In a world where energy demands are sky-rocketing as the population increases and developing countries industrialize, looking at ways of using energy more efficiently makes a lot of sense. Not only does it go some way towards ensuring that enough energy will be available for future generations, it can also contribute to economic development while improving our health and quality of life.

IEC work in the field of energy efficiency

A number of IEC technical committees (TCs) are leading the way in the field of electrical energy optimization. They are working on a host of International Standards which will increase energy efficiency. The IEC Advisory Committee on Energy Efficiency (ACEE) has been set up to coordinate activities between the different IEC technical committees that contribute to this area. It encourages a systems perspective for the development of Standards.
