Electrotechnology. A natural passion
"Electrotechnology. A natural passion"
This A5-sized booklet retraces the history of many of the major inventions of the 20th century linked to that "unobtrusive, ubiquitous thing in every bit of electrical and electronic technology": an IEC International Standard.
Photos of electrotechnical equipment and installations appear in chronological order, from the first powered washing machine and other household items, to vacuum tubes, nuclear instrumentation, portable audio devices and computers, satellites and super conductors, up to the present-day MP3 player.
It includes a CD-ROM, an interactive multimedia presentation that provides not only a history of the IEC and the role it has played in drawing together international experts from all over the world to create standards that cross borders and open up all kinds of global trading possibilities, but also a detailed, illustrated "Techline" history of major inventions and thinkers of the 20th century listed by theme, date and people.
