The year 1981 marked several important anniversaries for the electrical world - the 150th anniversary of Michael Faraday's discovery of electromagnetic induction on the 29th August 1831; the centenary of the world's first International Electrical Congress in Paris in 1881 where the first International agreement was reached on electrical units; and the 75th anniverary of the constitutive meeting of the IEC.
